... That sound you hear? It's the Bears dinking and dunking the Steelers into their first loss of the year. Oh that's also what gave the Bears their first touchdown drive of 97-yards, the longest the Steelers have allowed in three years. |

@ monsters It's also the Bears first semi-meaningful win since 2006. Just sayin'. |

Steaming Mad in FL I have to agree with the "WTF Moment". I have to disagree with your narrative about it. There is absolutely no excuse for as stupid a call as that was. The game was there to be won. Football 101: If you have the ball in a tight game at the end of the fourth quarter, odds are you will win. Period. Trying to score a touchdown was at least 3rd on a smart play caller's priority list behind (1) get the 1st down (2) burn 3:29 off the clock. There isn'a an inteeligent coach (or QB) on the planet that wants the other team holding the ball at the end of a tight game. Someone needs to spend a little less time playing Madden and going for ESPN Highlights and more time playing smart football. Blame it on Holmes or Reed all you want, but the game was lost on that decision. What was the plan? Score 7, or settle for 3, and then give the Bears a chance with over 3 minutes to test your D? Why would you do that? With the condition of that field a 40+ yard field goal shouldn't have even been discussed! Steamin Mad Still in FL |

... @ChrisD The play may not have been the best choice, but if would have worked, we might be praising him for his "aggressiveness" instead. The Packers did almost the exact same thing in the first week when Aaron Rodgers play faked and hit Greg Jennings for a TD (also against the Bears). It was on 3rd and 1. So maybe he was trying to catch them off guard. Or maybe he knew the Bears had a tendency to get beat on play fakes because the secondary cheats in. I don't know. I am just trying to rationalize it instead of just saying it was completely stupid. But I do think that he should have went short and ran out the clock as well, but then again, I'm not the head coach. |
